I played with Paul I don't know how many times at Aston and he was a well-loved member of any team he had a berth in. I refereed Paul in 1970 when he was a member of the Perry Common School second year team in a game against local rivals from Castle Vale. Several of the lads who played for both sides that day went on to join Aston Old Eds and played together for many years.
One day Paul asked me to relocate a dislocated finger for him. I had done this for others and for myself but this one defeated me. It was dislocated at the base of the finger which is unusual and after much half-hearted pulling at it I told him to take it to A and E as I was afraid of pulling his arm off.
Paul did much for the club in so many ways, coaching and encouraging the younger lads and joining in the life of a vibrant and fun-loving outfit.
He was a great bloke, greatly respected and he will be missed at Aston.
